Cousins Begins Rollout of XPIENT's IRIS POS in 220 Stores after Successful Pilot

Charlotte, NC (January 18, 2006) ~ After a successful pilot, Cousins Subs is beginning to roll out XPIENT’s IRIS (Intelligent Restaurant Information Systems) point-of-sale (POS) application in its 160 current stores and 60 additional stores that the company expects to have by the time the rollout is completed. “We made the decision to proceed with the rollout because feedback from the three pilot locations was very positive,” said John Ognenoff, Director of Information Technology for Cousins Subs. “Based on the pilot, we are expecting considerable improvements in speed of service and reductions in training costs.”

“We are pleased to welcome Cousins Subs to our family of IRIS users,” stated John Tata, Vice President, XPIENT Solutions. “Cousins Subs offers a quality product and outstanding personalized service. In choosing XPIENT as their exclusive point-of-sale system, Cousins Subs is implementing a solution with complementary characteristics - quality software technology delivered through the exceptional, personalized service of Euthenics, an authorized XPIENT reseller.”

Euthenics, a systems integrator in Schaumburg, Illinois, provided the IRIS POS and several add-on modules as part of a complete solution that included PAR Technology’s Vigo hardware. “We recommended IRIS because we felt it provided a perfect fit for Cousins Subs,” said Bill Nicolaou, VP of Sales and Marketing for Euthenics. “It offers an unlimited number of menu items, integrated credit cards, and a wide range of other features.” Euthenics’ ability to deliver a complete solution, that can include the IRIS POS, hardware, closed circuit TV security systems, networking equipment, a 24X7 help desk and national field service, gives its customers a single point of responsibility that they can turn to for any problem without concern about blame shifting.

“We learned about the flexibility, ease of use, and reliability of IRIS by talking to current XPIENT users,” Ognenoff said. “We then installed the systems at three pilot sites to test its capabilities. Everyone at the pilot sites has been very positive about it. The software is much easier to use than our previous solution so it will save a considerable amount of time previously required to train crew members. The intuitive user interface will also help us improve our speed of service. Finally, our ability to easily move the data to a hosted reporting site will help our company make better strategic decisions.”

Cousins Subs is purchasing three XPIENT products, IRIS point-of-sale, Enterprise Data Manager (EDM), and eIntelligence. IRIS point-of-sale allows users to create and maintain menus, handles complex discount scenarios, traces cash from point of order to point of deposit, tracks time and attendance, and provides automatic end of day processing. EDM allows users to make a single change to a central database and update all remote locations automatically for new inventory items, pricing changes, specials, employee information, tax tables, etc. Accessed from any standard web browser, eIntelligence captures and consolidates transactional store data and provides detail reporting to the transaction level. End-users can tailor their reporting both regionally and corporately generating meaningful data for making relevant/timely strategic and tactical decisions.

About Cousins Subs
Started in Milwaukee in 1972 by cousins William Specht and James Sheppard, Cousins Subs patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they'd enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients. Today, Cousins Subs restaurants throughout the nation carry on the tradition begun in Milwaukee. Their East Coast style submarine sandwiches served on fresh-baked bread have tickled the taste buds of millions of Americans. To learn more about Cousins Subs, visit the organization's website at
